The Tragic Story Of Keanu Reeves

The tragic story that has marked the taciturn Keanu Reeves

The actor, known above all for his role as Neo in "The Matrix", suffered several blows that were about to end his career. The funny dubbing in "Toy Story 4" and the last hitman John Wick now rescue the interpreter.

He was a kind of Leonardo DiCaprio, young, handsome and with a great projection in the industry. However, and after enjoying success with some of his roles, he ended up becoming someone more similar to Severus Snape, not only because of his hair, but also because of his stern expression, marked by a series of tragedies that plunged the actor into a kind of perpetual mourning, almost always dressed in black.

Keanu Reeves, actor and musician but especially Neo ("Matrix") and Scott Favor ("My private Idaho"), got Winona Rider to cross oceans of time to find him despite not being Dracula or Gary Oldman, but he has ended up typecast in the role of guy trying to save the world. Lots of action, artifice and some grimace.

Beyond his extensive curriculum as an actor, in which there are more than sixty films –including minor titles–, the toughest role that Reeves has had to face was not in fiction but in real life.

As a child, his dream was not to appear on the big screen, but to be the leader of an ice hockey team. However, an injury forced him to look for another alternative and, seen what was seen, he was completely right. Although, with success, misfortunes also came and a new setback shook his life. Just a few months after "The Matrix" was released, his girlfriend, fellow actress Jennifer Syme, prematurely gave birth to the baby they were both expecting. The girl, who was to be named Ava, was born dead.

The death of the girl destroyed the relationship between Reeves and Syme. The woman fell into depression and the actor could not be happy, so they ended up separating. But in April 2001, at a time when both were trying to strengthen their relationship, Syme had an accident while she was returning from a party at the house of singer Marilyn Manson, a friend of the couple. She ran off the road and was killed instantly. According to police reports, the interpreter was taking prescription drugs for depression.

It was not the only misfortune that Keanu Reeves had to face. Her sister suffered from leukemia, although she managed to save herself from it. Topical now due to the premiere of "John Wick 3" and the dubbing of Duke Caboom in "Toy Story 4", his status has declined in recent years due to controversies, in which hoaxes have even occurred about his death, which has been denied numerous times.

Five years ago, in addition, two stalkers entered his house in less than three days in two shady episodes. The first appeared in his library and told the actor that she was there to meet him. The second, days later, sneaked into his house and swam n-ked in the pool before being arrested by the police.

It was not until he donned the John Wick suit, that same year, that the taciturn performer found a role that suited him again: a hit man with an unchanging face despite the bloody horror he provokes wherever he goes. A role with which, finally, the actor takes flight, stagnant since he was "the chosen one" of the Wachowski sisters.
