Amy Adams Knew She Was Paid Less Than Her Co-Stars On American Hustle

Actress said American Hustle director David O. Russell made her cry
  during production

Amy Adams said she knew she was being paid less than her male co-stars on American Hustle. The actress told the British magazine GQ that she agreed to play a con artist alongside Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner despite the fact that she would receive less money than them, for this production that premiered in 2013.

Adams's co-star, Jennifer Lawrence, wrote in an essay published
last year that she blamed herself for failing as a negotiator when she learned
from emails from Sony that her male co-stars in her cast they received higher
  pay.

“I knew they were going to pay me less and I still agreed because
the options come down to do it or don't do it,” Ella Adams said.
“You
have to decide if it's worth it to you. But that doesn't mean I liked it,” she
  added.
Adams and Lawrence were nominated for Academy Awards for
Best Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively, for their roles in American
  Hustle.

“I am very proud of Jennifer. What I liked is that (the essay)
wasn't necessarily about getting paid or not getting paid... It's like we've
been conditioned not to be controversial, or not to cause trouble. It was
about finding your voice," Adams said.

The actress, who has also been nominated for Academy Awards for
her roles in Doubt and The Master, said in the magazine's April issue that
American Hustle director David O. Russell made her cry during the production.

“I was devastated on set. Not every day, but most. Jennifer
doesn't keep anything, she's like Teflon, but I'm not Teflon," the actress
  confessed.
Adams will play the role of reporter Lois Lane in the
movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
