Stana Katic has revealed that she fondly recalls her time on drama series
Castle, despite her controversial sacking from the ABC show in 2016.
Speaking to News Corp on Saturday, the 42-year-old says that
while some hurt remains, she recognises how beloved her character was.
The former Bond girl played NYPD homicide detective Kate Beckett
for seven years alongside Nathan Fillion's mystery novelist Richard
Castle.
The actress told the paper: 'I was confused by the entire
experience. I was hurt,' she says.
'But look, time has passed
and I am so thankful to have been a part of that project, for it to have
affected as many people as it did.'
She added: 'People loved
that couple and loved the story we told, loved all of those characters.
'It would be a disservice to the work that I did, which I feel
partly contributed to the success of the show, if I looked back on it and
was anything but grateful for the awesome run.'
In 2018, Stana admitted she was still mystified as to why she
was let go a month before ABC decided to cancel the entire romantic dramedy
procedural.
'It hurt and it was a harsh ending,' the
Canadian-American admitted to EW. 'I'm actually still not clear on the
thought process behind the way that it went down.'
In the
dismally-reviewed, rushed series finale - titled 'Crossfire' - Kate and
Richard were depicted 'seven years later' still happily married playing with
their three children.
'I hope it remains something special in viewers' minds
forever,' Stana continued.
'I met so many beautiful people on
that project, and we collaborated on something really unique in that it's
not every day that you get a show, or a series, that has eight seasons and
that it was a hit for the network.'
The University of Toronto
alum executive produces and stars as FBI Agent-turned-fugitive Emily Byrne
in the serial killer series Absentia.
