Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves facing criticism for
their actions, which some argue contradict the environmental principles they
advocate, particularly regarding climate change.
Reports indicate that the couple extended their European trip by including a
visit to Portugal shortly after their participation in the Invictus Games in
Germany. This move sparked discussions among royal commentators, who
questioned the alignment of this "secret holiday" with the couple's public
  stance on climate change.
Sophie Elsworth, a media writer for The Australian, pointed out that by
traveling extensively and adding more kilometers to their air travel, Harry
and Meghan inadvertently increase their carbon footprint. Elsworth pondered,
"It's unclear how this aligns with their climate agenda, which they actively
  promote to the public."
Jenna Clarke, associate editor at The Australian, furthered this sentiment by
questioning the necessity of a vacation for the couple, given their departure
from their roles as working royals. She remarked, "It's puzzling why Harry and
Meghan would take a holiday when they are no longer fulfilling royal duties
and don't appear to be engaged in other significant endeavors."
Clarke continued, "It's not evident what occupies their time outside of
occasional appearances at charitable events, often involving significant
donations, likely for tax purposes. Their current activities are somewhat of a
  mystery."
Previously, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams criticized the couple,
emphasizing the importance of practicing what one preaches, especially in the
context of climate change advocacy. He asserted, "If you actively advocate for
climate change awareness, as Harry and Meghan do, it's imperative to lead by
  example whenever possible."
The couple's recent actions have ignited a conversation about the balance
between their personal choices and the public image they present, particularly
in matters related to environmental responsibility.
