In the face of his recent cancer diagnosis, King Charles III pledges to continue serving "to the best of my ability," expressing profound gratitude for the flood of well-wishes received from the public regarding his health.
Addressing the 75th anniversary of the Commonwealth in a pre-recorded speech, the monarch conveyed, "Your incredibly kind and thoughtful good wishes for my health in recent weeks have deeply touched me."
While temporarily stepping back from public duties due to his health condition, Queen Camilla and Prince William have taken on the bulk of the royal family's responsibilities.
Calling for unity in tackling global challenges, particularly climate change and economic hurdles, Charles emphasized the need for member nations to come together. "Our diverse backgrounds mean that these challenges affect us each differently, and we experience their impacts in various ways," stated the monarch, acknowledging the diverse circumstances within the Commonwealth.
Established in 1949, the Commonwealth comprises 56 member states, predominantly former British colonies across Africa, the Americas, and Asia, collectively representing one-third of the world's population.
