Kate Middleton is expected to miss this year's Trooping the Colour as she continues to recover from a cancer diagnosis. Royal commentator Heydel-Mankoo has stated that it is "unlikely" the Princess of Wales will attend the 80th anniversary of D-Day from June 5 to 6 due to her health.
Heydel-Mankoo noted, "Last year she was there, resplendent in a green dress, and we're waiting to see whether she will also be attending this time or not. But there's been no mention of her attending the D-Day ceremonies. The Prince of Wales will be attending the Canadian beach Juno and Omaha Beach, where international heads of state will be present, but no word of the Princess of Wales attending. So I think it's rather unlikely we'll be seeing her at Trooping the Colour."
Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm King Charles's plans for Trooping the Colour. The 75-year-old King, who was the first monarch to appear on horseback for the event last June, is expected to break tradition this year by traveling via carriage.
A source told The Times, "The King is most likely to be taking part in Trooping via carriage this year, but a final decision is yet to be made." The Palace is reportedly cautious about King Charles's participation, given his ongoing cancer treatment and an incident involving a fidgeting horse last year, which has raised concerns about his safety during the parade.
In light of these developments, both the Princess of Wales's and King Charles's roles in upcoming royal events remain uncertain as the royal family navigates these challenging times.
