Monarch Plans Virtual Connection with Archie and Lilibet on Christmas Day
King Charles III, reportedly eager to maintain a connection with his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, has a special surprise in store for the Sussex children this Christmas.
Although the monarch will spend the festive season apart from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, former royal butler Grant Harrold revealed that Charles is likely to send gifts to Archie and Lilibet and connect with them virtually on Christmas Day.
“There’s no doubt the King will want to see his grandkids on Christmas Day,” Harrold told Fabulous. He added, “I’m willing to bet there will definitely be some sort of [Zoom] communication on the day.”
Harrold, who worked for Charles between 2004 and 2011, explained that the King’s gesture reflects a longstanding family tradition. “The King will send gifts. I guarantee you that something will be sent, and likewise, gifts will be sent to Grandpa or Grandmother [from the Sussexes],” he said.
He also suggested that the virtual gathering could provide an opportunity for the King to reconnect with Harry, despite the 5,400 miles separating them. “Christmas Day could be the perfect opportunity for Charles to speak with his son,” Harrold shared.
The former butler emphasized that any interaction would include a meaningful conversation, not just a chance to see the children opening gifts. “They’re not just going to put the kids in front of the camera without conversation,” he noted.
This thoughtful gesture underscores King Charles’s desire to maintain ties with his grandchildren, even amid the distance and challenges in his relationship with the Sussexes.
