William and Kate’s Personal Christmas Card Outshines Harry and Meghan’s ‘Corporate’ Greeting

William and Kate’s Personal Christmas Card Outshines Harry and Meghan’s ‘Corporate’ Greeting

Royal Holiday Cards Reveal Contrasting Approaches to Festive Greetings

Prince William and Princess Kate have captured hearts this holiday season with their intimate and heartfelt Christmas card, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s greeting has been criticised for being overly corporate.

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a cozy family photo featuring their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, taken in Norfolk earlier this year. The image, sourced from a video marking Kate’s health milestone, radiates warmth and togetherness.

In contrast, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted for a card featuring six snapshots from their year, including highlights from their philanthropic work and a family photo with Archie and Lilibet. Released under their non-profit Archewell, the card has been seen as more of a brand promotion than a personal gesture.

Brand expert Nick Ede compared the two approaches, praising William and Kate for their genuine and personal touch. “This year’s card from the Waleses feels like a special moment captured—a keepsake that resonates with fans of the family,” Ede remarked.

He added, “Kate and William’s photo showcases intimacy and their focus on family, which shines through powerfully. It’s a heartfelt message during a challenging year.”

Ede was less enthusiastic about Harry and Meghan’s approach, describing their card as “businesslike” and “corporate.” He noted that the Sussexes’ message seemed more aligned with thanking supporters and promoting Archewell rather than sharing a personal holiday sentiment.

“Their card lacks the charm and warmth you’d expect from a family greeting,” Ede explained, contrasting it with William and Kate’s effort, which he believes has “set a new standard for royal Christmas cards.”

The two approaches highlight the differing priorities and strategies of the royal couples, with one focusing on personal connection and the other emphasising professional branding.
