Monarch’s 'greatest sadness' is missing out on Archie and Lilibet’s lives, says royal expert
As Prince Archie’s sixth birthday approaches on May 6, King Charles III is reportedly feeling the deep sorrow of being estranged from Prince Harry’s children, a situation royal expert Jennie Bond describes as his “greatest sadness.”
According to The Mirror, the King—who is currently undergoing cancer treatment—has had very limited contact with Archie and Lilibet. Bond explained, “He always loved Harry – he called him ‘darling boy’. And I’m sure he still does love Harry and would love even more to be able to spend time with Archie and Lilibet.”
Reports suggest Charles has met Lilibet only once and seen Archie just a handful of times. Although regular video calls are said to take place, friends say the King longs for a genuine, lasting bond with his grandchildren.
“Charles is a sentimental man and a doting grandfather to George, Charlotte, and Louis,” Bond added. “I’m sure he thinks more about the great loss of not being able to spend time with Harry’s children.”
The distance between family members extends beyond Charles. Bond noted that Harry and Prince William are still not speaking, making it unlikely their children will build a relationship.
“I always imagined Harry and William remaining close and enjoying watching their children grow up together,” Bond said. “But there is absolutely no sign of the cousins ever getting to know one another.”
