Duke of Sussex accused of putting Monarch in 'extraordinarily difficult position' amid ongoing feud
Harry has “certainly not made things any easier” with his latest actions, according to royal commentator Jennie Bond, as tensions between the Duke of Sussex and King Charles continue to deepen.
Speaking to The Mirror, Bond explained that Harry’s legal fight over his UK security has added fresh strain to an already fractured relationship, with the King now reportedly keeping his distance to avoid being drawn into a controversy where Harry is effectively “suing the King’s own government.”
“Harry must realise by now that he has put his father in an extraordinarily difficult position,” Bond said. “And that makes life – or indeed any conversation at all with Harry – very difficult for Charles.”
The father-son dynamic is already described as “distant,” with reports suggesting Harry’s calls and letters often go unanswered.
“I wonder whether Harry realised at the start of this case just how hard it would make any communication with his father,” Bond added.
The Duke of Sussex has cited concerns for his personal safety as the driving force behind his court battle. However, Bond suggested that by escalating the dispute “to the highest level,” Harry may have effectively closed the door on reconciliation.
“Once the appeal judges have handed down their verdict, it will presumably be time to reassess the situation,” she said. “Harry certainly hasn’t made things any easier.”
