Royal family keeps Duke of Sussex at arm’s length amid growing mistrust
Prince William, King Charles III, and senior members of the royal family are reportedly taking a firm and coordinated stance when it comes to Prince Harry, with insiders claiming the Duke of Sussex’s letters and calls to his father have gone unanswered.
The silence is said to be deliberate. Palace insiders suggest the royals have grown increasingly wary of Harry following his public criticism of royal life through interviews, documentaries, and his memoir. In response, the family has chosen to keep their distance to avoid further drama.
According to broadcaster and royal commentator Helena Chard, the royal family’s silence is not accidental but strategic. “As long as litigious, paranoid, warring Prince Harry keeps fighting with the world, the royal family—and especially King Charles—will keep a suitable distance,” she told Fox News.
Chard added that the King is “embarrassed and tired” of Harry’s behavior and that the family has deliberately kept personal matters, including the King’s health, from him out of concern it could be leaked to the media.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward also weighed in, noting that King Charles, now in his role as monarch, is far more limited in how he can engage with personal issues. “He hasn’t got the time, the inclination, or the energy for what would be a potentially difficult conversation,” she explained.
While someone in the royal household may still be in contact with Harry, it appears increasingly unlikely that it’s his father—suggesting a deeper and more permanent fracture within the family.
