Royal duo’s rose tributes to raise funds for meaningful causes amid shared health journeys
King Charles and Princess Kate have been jointly honored in a deeply symbolic way, with two newly unveiled roses named in their honor—each supporting a cause close to their hearts as they continue their recovery from cancer.
According to Garden Forum, renowned rose breeder David Austin Roses has created The King’s Rose as a tribute to the monarch’s longstanding commitment to sustainability and community revitalisation. The flower will officially launch at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2025, with proceeds benefitting The King’s Foundation, which promotes education and sustainable development.
David J.C. Austin, chairman of the rose company, called the Chelsea Flower Show an “incredibly special place” and said the rose was designed to reflect the “enduring values of King Charles,” especially through his charity’s work.
This announcement follows the unveiling of Catherine’s Rose by the Royal Horticultural Society, created in tribute to the Princess of Wales, who is currently in remission from cancer. Proceeds from the rose will go directly to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, supporting patients facing cancer across the UK.
The dual honors come as both King Charles and Princess Kate continue their personal journeys of healing. Their mutual experiences have deepened their bond, with recent reports highlighting how their shared health challenges have brought them closer.
