Public support slips further as William and Catherine maintain strong approval
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity in the UK has sunk to new lows, according to the latest YouGov poll, while the Prince and Princess of Wales continue to enjoy widespread public favour.
Only 20% of Britons now view Meghan positively, compared to 65% who see her unfavourably — her lowest rating on record. Harry fares slightly better, with a 27% positive rating and 63% negative, marking his lowest numbers in two years.
The sharp decline follows a string of high-profile moves by the Sussexes, including Harry’s recent BBC interview regarding his lost UK security appeal and Meghan’s business launches — most notably her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and the Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
Royal correspondent Cameron Walker described it as a “steady decline,” suggesting the couple’s attempts to reshape their public image haven’t resonated. He noted that while some found Meghan’s series an “easy watch,” others criticised its lack of authenticity, pointing out it wasn’t even filmed in her own kitchen.
Walker also remarked that Harry’s tone in the BBC interview may have alienated viewers. “It was a bit of a rant,” he said, referencing the Duke’s claim that the institution is working against him.
Meanwhile, Prince William and Catherine remain the most popular senior royals. William holds a 75% approval rating, with Catherine close behind at 72%, further highlighting the contrast in public perception between the two couples.
