Prince Harry and Meghan Urged to ‘Find Purpose’ to Strengthen Marriage Amid Family Rift

Royal expert says Sussexes must fill emotional void as pressure mounts from ongoing drama

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been encouraged to find a stronger sense of purpose in their lives as their marriage continues to be tested by legal setbacks, public scrutiny, and ongoing estrangement from the royal family.

Speaking to The Mirror, royal biographer Tom Bower reflected on the couple’s turbulent journey since their 2018 wedding, describing it as a “tumultuous rollercoaster” filled with unexpected challenges. Despite this, he believes their marriage can endure — but only if they find meaningful direction together.

Bower described Harry as a “lonely prince,” pointing to his detachment from his UK family and lack of a defined role since stepping down from royal duties in 2020. He suggested that while Meghan has been able to maintain a polished public image, Harry appears more deeply affected by their situation.

“They conceal the turmoil they go through,” Bower said, referring in part to Harry’s recent legal defeat over UK security arrangements. “Everything that’s happened since their wedding has put a huge strain on the couple.”

While Meghan, according to Bower, knows how to “ignore criticism,” he believes Harry is still seeking stability. “He’s 40, hasn’t an official role and has lots of enemies. Not being close to his family leaves a hole,” he said. “His focus must be on filling that — in California, with Meghan.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. As public interest in their next chapter continues, experts suggest that rediscovering shared purpose may be key to preserving their relationship and legacy beyond the royal sphere.
