Prince Harry Breaks Silence After Court Loss, Expresses Desire for Royal Reconciliation

Duke says King Charles "won't speak to me" as he admits heartbreak and longing for peace

Prince Harry has spoken out emotionally following his Court of Appeal defeat on May 2, where judges dismissed his challenge to reinstate police protection during visits to the UK. In a candid interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex expressed a deep longing for reconciliation with his family—particularly with his father, King Charles III.

“I would love a reconciliation,” Harry said, reportedly holding back tears during the conversation in California. “I don’t want to fight anymore.”

The Duke, who described himself as "devastated" by the ruling, lamented that the King "won’t speak to me because of this security stuff" and expressed concern over the monarch’s ongoing battle with cancer, saying,

“I don’t know how much time he has left.”

Following the court’s decision, which found that the UK government’s changes to his security were lawful, Harry called the outcome “a good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up”, blaming Palace influence for what he sees as an unfair process.

Despite years of tension and public disputes with the royal family, the Duke said he has now “forgiven” his relatives and acknowledged,

“There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family.”

Still, Harry made clear he has no plans to return with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, saying:

“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”

Asked if he had requested the King’s help during the legal dispute, Harry responded,

“I never asked him to intervene. I asked him to step out of the way and let the experts do their jobs.”

The court, while acknowledging that Harry made “powerful” arguments about personal risk, concluded that his “sense of grievance” did not amount to a legal basis for reversing the decision made by RAVEC (the Royal and VIP Executive Committee).

Meanwhile, a Home Office spokesperson welcomed the outcome, stating:

“The UK government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.”

With the door to further legal action still open—via the Supreme Court—Prince Harry faces a deeply personal and public crossroads, torn between legal frustration, estranged family ties, and the desire to move forward in peace.
