Prince William Honors 'Unsung Heroes' in Powerful New Wildlife Series

Kensington Palace announces launch of Prince of Wales's documentary project ‘Guardians’

Prince William has paid tribute to the world’s wildlife rangers in a heartfelt new documentary series titled Guardians, a project close to his heart and inspired in part by legendary naturalist Sir David Attenborough.

In a video released by Kensington Palace, the Prince of Wales introduced the first episode of the series, now streaming on BBC Earth, which showcases the dangerous yet vital work of rangers who risk their lives to protect the natural world.

“I’ve had the privilege of meeting a number of rangers throughout my life, and have seen firsthand the vital work they do,” William shared. “Yet their stories are often overlooked or misunderstood. The reality is that protecting our natural world has become one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet.”

He praised the featured individuals as “unsung heroes – the true Guardians of the natural world,” highlighting their critical role in defending endangered species, preserving biodiversity, and maintaining global ecological balance.

The short video clip, shared across the Waleses’ official social media channels, gave viewers a glimpse into the lives of these rangers from around the world, whose tireless efforts are often carried out in silence and under threat.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson added, “Every day, they take huge risks, standing between poachers and endangered species. Guardians celebrates their dedication and bravery.”

The series is part of Prince William’s ongoing commitment to environmental conservation through his work with United for Wildlife and other Earth-focused initiatives.
