Royal issues heartfelt update following emotional visit to spinal care charity close to her heart
Princess Eugenie is taking on a more visible role within the royal sphere as she continues to support meaningful causes — including a recent engagement that reflects her personal journey and growing commitment to service under King Charles's reign.
The 35-year-old royal, who was recently appointed a mentor for the King’s Foundation’s new “35 under 35” initiative, made a touching visit to Horatio’s Garden — a UK charity that creates healing gardens in NHS spinal centres. Eugenie, who has publicly shared her own experience with scoliosis as a child, is a patron of the organisation.
“Visiting @horatiosgarden in Salisbury Hospital was so special,” Eugenie wrote on social media. “To listen to some of the life changing stories these patients go through and the long road to recovery really highlights just how important having access to nature and healing activities is in times of trauma.”
She added, “Supporting these charities can help touch the lives of patients in need of care.”
Though not a senior working royal, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has become increasingly active in causes close to her heart — especially those connected to health, healing, and sustainability. Her involvement with Horatio’s Garden follows a wave of positive attention around her role in the King’s Foundation mentorship program.
With King Charles gradually modernising the monarchy and placing emphasis on community-driven projects, Eugenie’s recent work hints at a broader royal shift — one that recognises contributions beyond titles, and values purpose over protocol.
