Lady Gabriella Windsor praises Princess of Wales for kindness during heartbreaking time
The Princess of Wales has been commended for her quiet compassion after offering a meaningful opportunity to Lady Gabriella Windsor during a deeply painful chapter in her life.
Lady Gabriella—daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and a cousin of King Charles—tragically lost her husband, Thomas Kingston, to suicide in February 2024 at the age of 45. At the time, Princess Kate was also enduring her own health battle, later revealing her cancer diagnosis to the public just weeks after Gabriella’s loss.
Despite her personal challenges, Kate extended a kind and thoughtful invitation to Gabriella to take part in the Together at Christmas carol service, hosted at Westminster Abbey in December. The annual event, which celebrates community and charitable work across the UK, is a project Kate has spearheaded in recent years.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, Lady Gabriella shared how much the gesture meant:
“It was such an honour to be involved, and very thoughtful and kind-hearted of the Princess to include me. I was very touched.”
Gabriella played an advisory role in shaping the musical programme of the service, suggesting artists and contributing creative ideas. She praised Kate for being “lovely to work with, always gracious, very creative, and with so much vision and passion for the many charities and causes she supports.”
She added:
“The Princess’s carol concert is such a brilliant event… to thank and shine a light on hundreds of the most outstanding charities in the UK. I was happy to have a little part in it.”
The Princess of Wales’s quiet but powerful gesture of inclusion and empathy has won widespread admiration, reinforcing her image as a thoughtful and steady presence in the royal family—even while facing her own adversity.
