King Charles and Queen Camilla Lead Regal Display at Garter Day 2025

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tony Blair join royals in centuries-old ceremony at Windsor

King Charles and Queen Camilla made a majestic arrival at Windsor Castle for the 2025 Garter Day service — one of the oldest and most revered events in the royal calendar.

Wearing their signature velvet robes and feathered hats, the royal couple were undeterred by the summer heat as they led the ceremonial procession to St George’s Chapel. The King was accompanied by two young pages of honour, William Sackville and Alfred Wellesley, sons of his close friends, who dutifully helped carry the train of his royal regalia.

Among the honoured attendees was composer Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, participating in the ceremony following his 2024 appointment as a Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter. Former Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair, invested in 2022, also joined the procession in full traditional garb.

Founded in 1348 by King Edward III, the Order of the Garter remains Britain’s highest and oldest order of chivalry, with Garter Day continuing to symbolise continuity and honour within the monarchy.
