Prince Harry’s Charity Disables Comments Amid Online Bullying Dispute

Sentebale takes action after explosive fallout with former CEO and Sussex Squad backlash

Sentebale, the African charity co-founded by Prince Harry in 2006 in memory of Princess Diana, has temporarily disabled comments on its official Twitter account following allegations of online harassment.

The decision comes in the wake of escalating tensions between the Duke of Sussex and the charity’s former CEO, Dr. Sophie Chandauka. The charity released a statement citing “targeted online harassment” as the reason for silencing comments on the platform.

This development follows Harry’s resignation from Sentebale earlier this year, backing trustees who declared Dr. Chandauka’s position “untenable.” In response, Chandauka accused the Duke of “harassment and bullying at scale” and branded the Sussex brand “toxic”—claims that Harry has strongly denied, calling them “blatant lies.”

Dr. Chandauka also deactivated her own social media accounts amid backlash from online supporters of the Duke and Duchess, often referred to as the ‘Sussex Squad.’

Despite the controversy, Sentebale has reaffirmed its mission to support vulnerable youth in Southern Africa, assuring followers: “We will not engage with misinformation or personal attacks here.”

The charity’s statement closed with appreciation: “Thank you to those who continue to support and follow the work of Sentebale.”
