Prince William issues heartfelt plea for wildlife rangers in new documentary clip

Future king highlights cross-border action ahead of royal family’s Trooping the Colour reunion

Prince William has made a powerful appeal for greater international cooperation to protect endangered wildlife, just days before the royal family’s reunion at Trooping the Colour.

In a newly released clip from his docuseries Guardians, shared on June 13 via the Prince and Princess of Wales’ and United for Wildlife’s Instagram accounts, the future king praised the efforts of rangers in South Africa who are risking their lives to protect rhinos from poaching.

William focused on the critical work being done by Kruger National Park’s Head Ranger Cathy Dreyer, along with rangers Felicia and Lucas, who work to combat illegal poaching and care for orphaned rhino calves.

“These are the unsung heroes on the front lines,” William said, calling for collaborative, cross-border efforts to support rangers and ensure long-term survival of both black and white rhino species.

A caption accompanying the video warned of the dire consequences of inaction: “If left unchallenged, the current poaching crisis could lead to the extinction of both black and white rhino species in the next few decades.”

The appearance marks the Prince of Wales’s continued commitment to wildlife protection through his United for Wildlife initiative — and comes just ahead of his prominent role in the upcoming Trooping the Colour celebrations in London.
