Indian businessman reportedly suffered fatal reaction after bee sting on polo field
Prince William’s friend and well-known polo figure Sunjay Kapur has tragically passed away after collapsing during a polo match on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, Mr. Kapur suffered a fatal anaphylactic reaction after being stung by a bee inside his mouth, which led to cardiac arrest. Efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
A prominent name in the international polo community, Mr. Kapur was often seen on the elite polo circuit frequented by British royals, including the Prince of Wales. His ex-wife, Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, had previously spoken about his polo matches with Prince William in past interviews.
At the time of his passing, Mr. Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading Indian auto components company. The company confirmed his death in an official statement: “He was a visionary leader whose passion, insight and dedication shaped the identity and success of our company.”
In a poignant coincidence, Mr. Kapur had posted on social media just hours before his death, commenting on the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
Following his divorce from Karisma Kapoor, he married actress Priya Sachdev Kapur. The couple welcomed their son, Azarias, in 2018.
