Smiling Prince Andrew spotted in Windsor ahead of Trooping the Colour absence

Duke of York keeps low profile as royal family prepares for King’s birthday parade

Prince Andrew appeared in good spirits this week as he was seen riding in Windsor — despite reports that he and his daughters will remain absent from the upcoming Trooping the Colour celebrations.

The Duke of York was photographed enjoying a relaxed horse ride alongside Terry Pendry, the late Queen Elizabeth’s longtime stud groom and trusted companion. The 65-year-old royal smiled broadly during the outing, dressed in full riding attire including a helmet, gloves, and a khaki jacket.

Pendry, who rode regularly with Queen Elizabeth for nearly three decades, accompanied the Duke for the leisurely ride through the Windsor estate. Later that day, Prince Andrew was also seen driving through Windsor, appearing at ease in a burgundy top.

The rare public appearance comes just days before the annual Trooping the Colour parade in London, which celebrates the King’s official birthday. Prince Andrew is expected to remain absent from the event, continuing his exclusion from official royal duties since stepping back as a working royal.

King Charles will lead the celebrations, joined by senior royals including Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Prince William, Catherine, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and Timothy Laurence. The Prince and Princess of Wales’s children are also expected to take part.

Prince Andrew’s former wife, Sarah Ferguson, and their daughters, their daughters, are likewise not expected to attend this year’s ceremony.
