Buckingham Palace Shares Touching Tribute on Princess Diana’s Birthday

Princess Anne honours Canada Day in heartfelt ceremony on behalf of King Charles

On what would have been Princess Diana’s 64th birthday, Buckingham Palace released an emotional update as Princess Anne carried out an important royal duty on behalf of her brother, King Charles.

The Princess Royal marked Canada Day with a visit to Bramshott and Liphook, locations steeped in historic ties to Canadian forces. The Palace shared a poignant statement and photos from the event on social media, highlighting Anne’s presence at a commemorative service alongside schoolchildren and veterans.

“Since 1942, the village has hosted an annual Canada Day service, which has helped to develop lasting bonds between the village and Canada,” the statement read.

After attending a service at St Mary’s Church, Princess Anne visited Liphook CofE Junior School, where pupils honoured Canadian servicemen through a special drama performance.

While Prince William marked the day by continuing Diana’s legacy through his homelessness initiative in Sheffield, Anne’s role reflected the royal family’s broader commitment to international remembrance and unity.

The Princess Royal’s appearance served as a quiet but dignified gesture from the monarchy—acknowledging both a solemn moment in royal history and a continuing legacy of public service.
