Fans await possible joint appearance as Invictus CEO praises Duke’s lasting impact
Anticipation is building around the possibility of Prince Harry reuniting with King Charles at the upcoming Invictus Games in Birmingham. Excitement grew even further after Helen Helliwell, CEO of the Invictus Games, shared her thoughts in a rare public statement.
Speaking with People, Helliwell expressed hope for a royal reunion: “We will be delighted if they come over for the year out and for the Games. We are so far out it’s impossible for one individual to confirm their plans, but we would be delighted if the Duke were able to come.”
She also praised the Duke of Sussex for his passion and dedication to the Invictus community. “He really brings a magical sparkle dust to his interactions, and there is a really special relationship with him and the community. So, we will be super excited to host him in Birmingham as well,” Helliwell added.
Having launched the Invictus Games in 2014, the Duke’s commitment to veterans and service members continues to inspire. Helliwell highlighted just how much the Games have grown, saying, “So to have it back in the U.K. for this eighth iteration, I think, is really special. I think it's going to be a really special moment for the whole country. But particularly, I think a real sense of pride for him in seeing just how far that movement has come.”
Reports also suggest that invitations to attend the Games will be extended to both King Charles and Prince William as a gesture of reconciliation within the royal family. Helliwell noted that the royal family has always supported the Armed Forces and the Invictus movement since its inception.
While fans around the world are eagerly hoping for a father-son reunion at the Games, Buckingham Palace has not yet confirmed any royal appearances.
