King Charles Hosts Investiture Ceremony to Honour Scotland’s Finest

Royal family celebrates exceptional service as Holyrood Week begins in Edinburgh

King Charles officially launched Holyrood Week—known as Royal Week in Scotland—by honouring outstanding individuals during a special Investiture ceremony at the Palace of Holyroodhouse on July 1.

The royal family marked the occasion by sharing a series of photos on social media, accompanied by a heartfelt message:

“At the Palace of Holyroodhouse, His Majesty The King held an Investiture ceremony, honouring remarkable individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their communities and the nation.”

The ceremony recognised recipients from across Scotland for their exceptional work in public service, education, charity, sports, the arts, and business. The honours were personally awarded by King Charles as a gesture of royal appreciation for their dedication and impact.

A spokesperson for the monarch praised the honourees, stating, “Your dedication, passion and service have made a profound difference to the lives of many.”

Earlier in the day, the King took part in the Ceremony of the Keys—an ancient tradition symbolising the monarch’s ceremonial welcome to Edinburgh. Holyrood Week continues to highlight the Crown’s deep connection to Scotland through a series of public engagements and cultural celebrations.
