Princess Kate’s sister expected to serve as royal companion in modernised royal household
Pippa Middleton is reportedly in line for an honorary royal role once Prince William and Princess Kate ascend the throne, marking a new chapter for the Middleton family’s longstanding support of the Wales household.
As Princess Kate continues her recovery from cancer, her family—especially her parents Carole and Michael Middleton—have remained by her side, helping care for the children and maintaining stability during a sensitive time. That steady presence is now expected to be recognised in the future royal court.
According to People, once William becomes King and Kate assumes the role of Queen, her sister Pippa may be appointed as a “companion”—a modern equivalent of the traditional lady-in-waiting. This updated title, already adopted by Queen Camilla, reflects a shift toward a more informal and supportive structure within the royal household.
Queen Camilla currently has six companions who assist her during official engagements, offering both personal and public support. Similarly, Pippa and her mother Carole may take on such roles under Queen Kate’s reign.
The shift reflects the Waleses' preference for a trusted inner circle, one grounded in loyalty and familiarity. An insider told The Daily Mail that the model already in use by Camilla is less about rigid ceremony and more about genuine help and presence—"everyone mucks in," the source said.
For Pippa Middleton, this potential role would not only honour her close bond with her sister but also mark her place in a more modern, family-oriented monarchy.
