Loyalty Over Reconciliation: Princess Royal Reportedly Unwilling to Forgive the Duke of Sussex
Princess Anne has reportedly made a firm and unflinching decision about her relationship with the Duke of Sussex — and it's sending shockwaves through royal circles.
Once known as a pillar of support for her family during their toughest moments, the Princess Royal now seems unlikely to extend the same grace to Harry. A new report suggests that even if King Charles and his youngest son were to mend their strained relationship, forgiveness from Anne may not be on the cards.
Anne, the late Queen's only daughter and the King's closest sibling, has always stood beside those who prioritized family unity and strengthened the monarchy. However, royal expert Jennie Bond claims Anne views Harry's decision to step down from royal duties — and the chaos that followed — as a serious betrayal.
"It may be that the King has discussed Harry with Anne," Bond told The Mirror, "but I doubt she would want to get involved. Loyalty is paramount to her."
Bond added that Anne is likely deeply disappointed in Harry and sees his actions as disloyal to not just his father and brother, but to the monarchy as a whole. “She might well find that hard to forgive,” the expert revealed.
The real loss, Bond noted, is that Harry missed the chance to learn from Anne — a second-born royal who has mastered her role as a steadfast supporter of the monarch. “Anne could have helped him see that ‘playing second fiddle’ isn’t a failure,” Bond explained. “It’s a position of strength, offering vital support from behind the scenes.”
“She could have shown Harry that they’re part of a team — a firm — working together to keep the monarchy relevant and to uplift causes and communities,” Bond continued. "But sadly, that guidance is now irrelevant. Harry has made it clear he has no interest in returning to royal life."
Meanwhile, Anne's actions continue to speak louder than words. In 2024, she carried out 474 engagements — more than any other member of the Royal Family, including King Charles, who completed 372 in the same period.
While the door to reconciliation between Harry and his father may remain slightly ajar, Princess Anne appears to have closed hers — quietly, firmly, and without regret.
