Princess Kate Turns to King Charles' Favorite Therapy During Cancer Recovery

Acupuncture played a key role in her healing journey, the Princess reveals during hospital visit

Princess Catherine has opened up about a lesser-known aspect of her cancer treatment — and it happens to be a form of therapy long endorsed by King Charles.

During her visit to the cancer wellbeing centre at Colchester Hospital on July 2, the Princess of Wales revealed she tried acupuncture while undergoing treatment, describing it as one of the practices that helped her cope with the physical and emotional challenges.

The ancient Chinese therapy, involving the insertion of fine needles into pressure points, is known to ease stress and improve wellbeing. It’s also a method King Charles, who is receiving cancer treatment himself, has long promoted as a valuable complement to traditional medicine. He has even advocated for its inclusion in mainstream global healthcare systems.

Now in remission, Princess Catherine shared candid reflections on the post-treatment phase of her journey — a period she described as unexpectedly difficult.

“Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” she admitted. “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”

Kate also spent time with patients and staff, helping plant roses in a therapeutic garden designed to offer calm and support to the community. The visit marked another meaningful step in her steady return to public life, with her openness offering encouragement to others navigating recovery.
