King Charles and Queen Camilla Search for Key Palace Role

Royal couple hiring a Royal Engagements Officer after summer break

King Charles and Queen Camilla are looking to expand their team at Buckingham Palace once their summer in Scotland comes to an end.

The Royal Family’s official website has posted an opening for a Royal Engagements Officer, a 12-month position within the Private Secretary’s Office. With a salary of £40,000, the role offers both prestige and pressure, as the successful candidate will be tasked with coordinating the King and Queen’s full programme of visits, audiences, and speeches. Applications close on August 31.

The job description highlights the need for “meaningful contact between Their Majesties and the world,” achieved through smooth logistics, thoughtful briefings, and faultless delivery. The officer will also handle arrangements for both UK and overseas engagements, ensuring everything runs to schedule. Candidates are expected to be sharp, adaptable, and well-versed in current affairs across Britain and the Commonwealth.

In addition to the salary, the perks include complimentary meals, an “excellent” pension plan, and a 20 percent discount at Royal Collection Trust shops.

The recruitment drive comes as the King, 76, begins his summer retreat at Balmoral. He arrived on August 18 to a Guard of Honour from the Royal Regiment of Scotland and welcomed visitors from Germany, the Netherlands, and France who had travelled to see him.
