Frogmore Cottage remains empty as a sign of reconciliation
King Charles appears to be keeping the door open for Harry and Meghan’s return, both symbolically and literally.
Reputation expert Eric Schiffer suggested that leaving Frogmore Cottage vacant serves as a “silent invite” for the Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle to reconnect with the royal family. The Windsor home, gifted to them by the late Queen as a wedding present, has remained untouched since the couple’s move to California in 2020.
“Sussexes never ignore real estate PR candy,” Schiffer told the Daily Express U.S., even joking that if Windsor opened the gates, “expect a swift Sussex furniture truck at dawn.”
For Harry, who has often spoken of missing his family and the UK, the timing may feel significant. He is expected in London next month for the WellChild Awards, and reports of recent “peace talks” with his father have stirred speculation about a reunion.
While nothing is confirmed, the empty cottage has sparked hope among royal watchers who want to see the family reconcile.
Meanwhile, William and Catherine are set to move with their children into Forest Lodge after four years at Adelaide Cottage, upgrading their own home life as Charles quietly leaves a window open for his younger son.
