Duchess celebrates major win as royals gather for VJ Day
Meghan Markle has delivered a decisive response to her critics by announcing the extension of the Sussexes' multi-year Netflix partnership. The renewed agreement will see the couple producing fresh creative projects under Archewell Productions, with Meghan's lifestyle brand, As Ever, also set to feature in upcoming content.
In her statement, Meghan said, “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
Royal expert Jennie Bond told GB News that many detractors had prematurely written off the deal. “There was no statement from Harry and Meghan and no indication at any point, but we all decided that the Netflix deal was dead in the water, so it's one in the eye, actually, to all her detractors,” she said.
Bond added that Harry's limited role in the announcement reflected that television “isn't his strength,” but stressed that Meghan had scored a clear victory. “The fact of the matter is, Meghan has won, and we have to eat humble pie,” she remarked.
The news comes as the royal family reunites for VJ Day commemorations, with Meghan's high-profile comeback overshadowing her critics and reaffirming her influence.
