Sussexes’ Archewell Foundation moves closer to official recognition
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have finally overcome a long-running obstacle in their post-royal journey.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now just a step away from securing the trademark for their Archewell Foundation, nearly five years after stepping back from royal duties.
According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, their application has received final examiner clearance, confirming it meets all requirements for official registration.
The couple first filed for the Archewell trademark in 2020, but the process faced delays after missing signatures and unpaid fees led to an early rejection. The latest update, submitted on August 16, now places the foundation on the brink of full approval.
Their related application for Archewell Audio — covering podcasts, live events and performances — has also cleared its final stage.
Named in honour of their son Archie, now six, Archewell has grown steadily with projects such as The Parents’ Network and The Welcome Project. The Parents’ Network officially launched earlier this month following a successful pilot.
Not all of Meghan’s ventures have advanced as smoothly. Her lifestyle brand As Ever is still tied up in trademark disputes, facing challenges from a Spanish plagiarism claim and objections from a U.S. clothing company with the same name.
Even so, her creative work remains in motion. Meghan’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan has been renewed, with a second season expected to premiere soon.
