Prince Harry and Meghan praised for protecting their children’s privacy

Sussexes take new step while William faces future without cousin support

Harry and Meghan Markle are setting their own rules when it comes to family life, and many are applauding their approach.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have long been outspoken about safeguarding the privacy of their children, Archie and Lilibet. Since Meghan launched her Instagram account at the start of 2025, she has shared occasional glimpses of family life but has been careful never to reveal the children’s faces. Instead, photos have shown them from behind or with emojis covering their features.

Public relations expert Rhea Freeman told Express that this choice highlights how different Harry and Meghan are from their royal relatives, particularly William and Catherine. “It might seem unusual given how visible royal children usually are, but Harry and Meghan are not the same,” she said. “People cannot criticise them constantly and then expect open access to their children, which could put their safety at risk.”

Freeman also noted the couple’s decision to keep Archie and Lilibet out of Meghan’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan, pointing out that with all the scrutiny and ongoing security concerns, shielding their children from the spotlight is a sensible way to protect them.

The Sussexes’ decision has drawn support from many who see it as a vital step for Archie and Lilibet’s safety. It comes as reports suggest that William will not be able to rely on his cousins for support in the way Queen Elizabeth once did, marking another contrast between the two households.
