Princess of Wales and US First Lady share rare moment of warmth during Windsor visit
Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Melania Trump may have struck up the beginnings of an unlikely friendship, if whispers from Buckingham Palace and the White House are to be believed.
The pair drew plenty of attention during the recent two-day State Visit to Windsor, where President Donald Trump led the American delegation. While the grandeur of the State Banquet dominated the headlines, it was their joint appearance the following morning that left a lasting impression.
On September 18, Catherine and the US First Lady stepped away from the formality and joined children at Frogmore Gardens, spending time with Squirrels, the youngest members of the Scouts. The two women appeared relaxed, smiling easily as they encouraged the children with nature drawings and the construction of bug hotels.
According to a Kensington Palace aide, their chemistry was plain to see. “You could very much see how warm and friendly they were after spending time together,” the source said, adding that their conversation flowed naturally throughout the morning.
Another insider told Hello! magazine that this might be the beginning of a longer-term connection. “It’s definitely the start of what looks set to be a very warm, long-term relationship between Catherine and Melania,” they noted.
Chief Scout Dwayne Fields, who led the day’s activities, also observed their easy rapport. He believes their joint appearance may not be the last. “From what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to go away and collaborate on something in the US,” he said, hinting at a possible future partnership between Kensington Palace and the White House.
