King Charles meeting could leave the Duchess in a tough position
Meghan Markle may soon find herself in a difficult spot as Prince Harry prepares for a possible reunion with King Charles and the royal family.
The Duke of Sussex is expected to attend the WellChild Awards in London on September 8, a visit that coincides with growing speculation of a private meeting with his father, who continues cancer treatment. Reports suggest aides on both sides have been working behind the scenes to pave the way for a reconciliation.
But while attention is on Harry and his father, Meghan is the one caught in a dilemma. Speaking recently on The Circuit, the Duchess admitted she struggled during a period when she and Harry were away from their children, Archie and Lilibet, for nearly three weeks. “I was not well,” she said of the experience, underscoring how difficult separation is for her.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe told The Mirror that Meghan’s desire to remain with her children in California is understandable, though it has also drawn criticism. “Meghan clearly hates being apart from her children, and when Harry comes to the UK, Meghan hasn’t come with him and has been blamed for snubbing Britain as a result,” he explained. “But it runs deeper than that — she wants to be a hands-on mum and was never prepared to make the sacrifice that royal mums have to make.”
According to Larcombe, Meghan could soon face a crossroads if Harry edges closer to reconciling with his family. “Does she come with Harry and look the people she’s criticised in the eyes, which is going to be tough? Or does she allow Harry to come with the children and stay away?” he asked.
For Meghan, the coming months may force some difficult decisions about how closely she chooses to reconnect with the family she and Harry left behind.
