Duke of Sussex considers children’s schooling in the UK following rare father-son meeting
Prince Harry is reportedly weighing the idea of bringing Meghan Markle and their two children back to the UK, just weeks after reuniting with his father, King Charles III, for the first time in 19 months.
The Duke of Sussex recently spent nearly an hour with the King over tea at Clarence House, a meeting that appeared to go well despite their strained history. The visit has sparked speculation that Harry may want their children — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4 — to be educated in the UK, where he himself attended the prestigious Eton College.
According to a close friend of Harry’s, no formal decision has been made, but the idea may have come up during his talk with the King. If true, it would also mean addressing how Meghan might fit into such plans, given the ongoing tension with the royal family.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that Charles would likely welcome the idea. “Harry wants them to know and understand their heritage,” she said, while noting that Harry still considers the UK unsafe for his family.
Bond suggested that the security issue could be eased if they were offered a royal residence to stay in. Still, she questioned whether Meghan would agree. “Would she want to come? I rather doubt it. She’s happy doing her ‘thing’ in the States,” she said, adding that Harry and Charles’s relationship had been “deeply scarred” but is now showing signs of healing.
After the meeting, when a fan asked how his father was doing, Harry simply replied, “He’s great” — a brief but hopeful sign that their relationship may be moving in a better direction.
