Prince Harry honours late mom Princess Diana before emotional family reunion

The Duke of Sussex ends U.K. visit with heartfelt tribute and plans to reunite with family

Prince Harry wrapped up his whirlwind four-day visit to the UK with a deeply personal moment. On Thursday, 11 September, the Duke of Sussex attended an event in London linked to The Diana Award, just hours before flying back to California to be with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Harry joined a panel of four other speakers from the charity to discuss how social action can support mental health. Created in 1999 to honour Princess Diana’s legacy, the award celebrates young people aged 9 to 25 who are driving social change, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The appearance followed an emotional reunion with his father King Charles III at Clarence House the day before — their first private meeting in 19 months. As expected, Harry did not see his brother Prince William, who had already left London for an engagement in Wales.

Since arriving on Monday, 8 September, Harry’s trip has been packed. He attended the WellChild Awards, visited the Community Recording Studio in Nottingham, toured the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London, and took part in an Invictus Games Foundation event. He also made a private visit to his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s grave on the third anniversary of her passing.
