Long-running feud could soften after King Charles meeting
Harry may soon have the chance to mend his strained relationship with William, according to one of his closest friends.
The Duke of Sussex recently made headlines after reuniting with his father, King Charles, for tea at Clarence House — their first meeting in 19 months. While the encounter was described as warm and uplifting, Harry did not meet William or Catherine during his visit, as the Prince and Princess of Wales had prior commitments.
Royal experts have long suggested that William remains deeply resentful toward his younger brother, leaving little hope of reconciliation. Yet a positive note has emerged from Harry’s circle.
Alex Rayner, a long-time friend who once trekked to the North Pole with Harry in 2012, believes the brothers’ relationship will improve sooner than many expect. Speaking to The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, Rayner said:
“As soon as the opportunity presents itself, we’ll see a wonderful embrace between the two brothers. Absolutely.”
Despite the fact that Harry and William have not spoken since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022 — nor at the funeral of their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes in 2023 — Rayner remains confident. When asked if a reunion could take place in the coming months, he replied:
“I would hope so. Certainly, if not by the end of the year, then next. They’ll hug in the not-too-distant future.”
For now, the world watches and waits to see whether the brothers can put years of tension behind them and take a step toward healing.
