Royal expert says William will play key role in any possible reconciliation
Prince Harry’s hopes of rejoining the royal fold may hinge less on his father, King Charles, and more on his brother, Prince William, according to a royal expert.
Harry recently met King Charles at Clarence House on September 10 during his four-day visit to the UK. While neither Buckingham Palace nor the Sussexes’ team disclosed details, they confirmed that the private reunion took place.
Royal commentator Robert Hardman told Hello! Magazine that the King was “happy” after their meeting and would love to see Harry more often, as well as spend time with his grandchildren. However, Hardman noted that Charles is unlikely to make any decisions about Harry’s return to royal duties without consulting William.
“I think it’s encouraging that they’ve gone from ‘no speaks’ to a face-to-face meeting,” Hardman said. “But any longer-term solution would need to be discussed with Prince William as well, and that situation seems to be moving at a very different pace.”
These remarks came shortly after Harry expressed his desire to visit the UK more frequently. Speaking to The Guardian, he said he hopes to bring his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to meet their grandfather in the future.
