Body language expert says William made his feelings clear during tense exchange
Prince William is said to have shown a firm and uneasy reaction towards his uncle, Prince Andrew, during a recent royal funeral, according to a royal expert.
The encounter happened as senior royals gathered to mourn the Duchess of Kent, who died earlier this month at the age of 92. As her coffin was carried to the hearse for a private burial at Windsor, William, Catherine, and other members of the family stood on the chapel steps to pay their respects.
At that moment, Andrew was seen attempting to engage the Prince of Wales in conversation. William, however, appeared unresponsive, with footage showing Andrew smiling while his nephew kept a stern and detached expression. Reports suggest William was irritated at being cornered by his uncle during such a solemn occasion.
Commenting on the moment, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror: “William finds his uncle an embarrassment to the monarchy. It would be hypocritical of him to pretend all is well.” She added that William’s discomfort was plain to see, noting his body language reflected his status as a future king who outranks his uncle.
Speaking further about their strained relationship, Bond explained: “Andrew’s big brother and his other siblings tolerate him, but William is a different generation with a different outlook.”
