The Uncertain Future of Andrew and Sarah’s £30m Royal Lodge

Sarah Ferguson dismisses rumours of a move from the Duke of York’s mansion

The Duke of York has kept a low profile since the Epstein scandal, but where he lives continues to draw attention. Prince Andrew still resides at Royal Lodge, the £30 million Windsor estate he shares with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. Despite years of speculation that he would be forced out, the couple remain firmly in place.

Reports suggest, however, that the 30-room Grade II-listed mansion has seen better days. Images published by Us Weekly show visible signs of decline, from cracks to damp patches, with estimates suggesting it could take millions to restore the property to its former grandeur.

Royal Lodge, inherited by Andrew after the Queen Mother’s death in 2002, is still considered one of the crown’s architectural gems with its grand façade, lavish interiors, and sprawling 90-acre grounds. But whispers about Andrew being asked to leave have persisted, especially since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2023, Sarah Ferguson addressed the rumours during an interview with ¡HOLA! TV’s Samara García Mendez. Asked about claims that they might relocate to Frogmore Cottage, she responded lightly, “Don’t always believe what you read,” shutting down talk of a move.

Now, with Sarah under renewed scrutiny for her past links to Epstein and some charities cutting ties with her, the debate over the future of Royal Lodge is back in the headlines. Whether Andrew and Sarah can continue holding on to the estate remains uncertain—and public interest in their living arrangements shows no sign of fading.
