Meghan Markle’s ‘Controlling’ Approach Reportedly Hurting Harry and the Sussex Brand

The Duchess of Sussex faces backlash as another key team member departs, fuelling claims of instability within the couple’s brand.

Meghan Markle’s leadership style is once again under scrutiny after her latest publicist, Emily Robinson, stepped down just a few months into the job. Robinson became the tenth communications professional to leave the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team within five years, sparking renewed discussion about the couple’s struggling public image.

Earlier in 2024, their Chief of Staff, Josh Kettler, also resigned after only three months in the position. These frequent departures have led royal observers to question the working environment surrounding the Montecito-based couple.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun that the Duchess’s hands-on approach might be part of the problem. “It must be quite chaotic working for the Sussexes. They’ve lost so many staff. People don’t stay long—they seem to appear briefly and then go,” she said.

Seward also suggested that Meghan often clashes with professional advice. “It seems to me that Meghan wants to control everything, and because of that, they end up making some major PR mistakes,” she added.

The ongoing turnover and branding challenges continue to fuel concerns that the Sussexes’ global image remains unstable despite their ongoing efforts to rebuild it.
