Palace moves to calm rift between King Charles and William

Father and son reportedly not speaking as disagreements over family and royal direction surface

Palace courtiers are said to be working to defuse rising tension between King Charles and Prince William, with reports claiming the pair are no longer calling or texting.

Strains are believed to have grown after a one-to-one meeting at Balmoral. The two are understood to have clashed over several matters, including the King’s willingness to reconnect with Harry while William remains estranged from his brother. William has also pushed for firmer action regarding Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson following renewed embarrassment tied to past links with Jeffrey Epstein.

While official sources have played down talk of a feud, insiders suggest there is more beneath the surface. Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop reports that things worsened after William’s remarks in Eugene Levy’s documentary The Reluctant Traveller, which Charles is said to have viewed as a betrayal rather than frankness. One source claimed this is not just “family tension” but a dispute over the Crown itself.

Communication between monarch and heir has reportedly “collapsed into silence”. There is talk of a tentative “peace walk”, yet trust is described as badly damaged. No formal statement has been issued.

In his conversation with Levy, William said he hoped the family would not return to “some of the practices” he and Harry experienced growing up, adding that significant change sits on his agenda for the future of the monarchy.
