Future King William sends a firm signal to his uncle, marking another end to Andrew’s remaining royal perks.
Prince William appears to be taking a firm stance against Prince Andrew, who has lost yet another symbol of his former royal status.
According to The Mirror, Andrew has stopped using his personalised “Duke of York” number plates, AY02 DOY and AY03 DOY, which previously adorned his dark green Range Rovers. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has confirmed that the registration AY02 DOY is no longer active.
Andrew’s new £115,000 Range Rover now carries a standard plate, KN74 EFK, instead of the custom ones that reflected his former title. This change highlights how many of his royal privileges have quietly disappeared since he stepped back from public life.
The 65-year-old’s retreat from royal perks follows Buckingham Palace’s October 17 announcement confirming that Andrew will no longer use his royal title or other honours. The move came after renewed scrutiny of his ties to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Sources say that King Charles made the final decision after consulting senior family members — including Prince William, who reportedly played a key role in ensuring the monarchy distanced itself from further controversy.
The latest development sends a clear message from William: Andrew’s time as a figure of royal privilege is over.
