The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrate a new milestone following major recognition for their charitable work
Harry and Meghan Markle have shared an uplifting update after their recent trip to New York, where they were honoured with a prestigious Humanitarian Award for their global philanthropic efforts. The couple, through their Archewell Foundation, were recognised for their commitment to addressing racial justice and mental health issues.
Following the award ceremony, the Duke and Duchess issued a statement celebrating new progress in their ongoing mission to empower young people, particularly girls. Last year, Archewell joined forces with Pivotal Ventures and the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation to support a partnership with Girls Inc., providing digital wellness programmes for girls in underserved communities across the United States.
This year, that initiative has grown further. Archewell announced the launch of the New York State x #HalfTheStory Teen Tech Council, which brings together students to help shape healthier digital learning environments. The Council plays a key role as New York transitions toward phone-free schools, giving young people the opportunity to share their views with policymakers on promoting mental health, connection, and learning in these new settings.
“As the initiative expands, more students across New York will be included, ensuring diverse young voices, especially those of young girls, are heard in shaping the future of education,” the statement read.
Harry and Meghan reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the next generation, promising to continue empowering young minds with the tools they need to create a healthier, more positive digital future.
