Prince William and Catherine Face Backlash from Windsor Neighbours

Locals upset over strict security rules around the couple’s new home at Forest Lodge

William and Catherine are facing criticism from future neighbours over security restrictions near their new Windsor residence.

The couple, expected to move into Forest Lodge on November 5, have reportedly angered nearby residents with measures that include fencing, surveillance cameras, and a 150-acre exclusion zone. The area, once open for walks and even home to a Christmas tree shop, is now off-limits to the public.

Several neighbours told The Telegraph that the restrictions feel hypocritical. One resident said, “The royal family encourage people to enjoy the outdoors, and then they restrict access themselves. It’s hypocritical.”

They added, “Of course, I support protecting them from any threats, but the house is far away, surrounded by fencing and cameras. We’re not impressed.”

Another local admitted they were initially excited about the royal move but grew frustrated when access was quietly blocked. “William and Kate haven’t given us any notice or explanation beyond security concerns,” they said. “It’s disappointing when we’ve enjoyed that space for so long.”

A resident even said they wrote to Clarence House about the issue but didn’t expect a reply. Others feel a public right of way has effectively been taken from them without warning.
