The Prince and Princess of Wales join families worldwide in remembering babies lost too soon.
Kensington Palace has shared a heartfelt message from the Prince and Princess of Wales as they marked Baby Loss Awareness Week with a moving tribute.
Prince William and Catherine, devoted parents to their three children, have long been recognised for their hands-on approach to parenting and their willingness to break from strict royal traditions to protect their family’s privacy and wellbeing.
On Tuesday, 15 October, the couple shared an image of a glowing candle on their official social media accounts, taking part in the Wave of Light campaign — an annual global event that honours babies who have died during pregnancy or shortly after birth. Around the world, families light candles and place them in their windows for an hour, symbolising how these little lives, however brief, continue to shine brightly in memory.
Catherine has been a strong supporter of Tommy’s, a UK charity that provides care and guidance to bereaved parents while also funding research to prevent pregnancy loss and premature birth. During a 2020 visit to the organisation, the Princess was visibly moved as she listened to families share their experiences of grief and healing.
This year, the Waleses’ gesture was once again praised by the charity and by parents across the country. Their quiet act of remembrance not only brings comfort to grieving families but also raises awareness for a cause that remains deeply personal to many.
