The Prince of Wales unveils a star-studded lineup for the Rio de Janeiro awards night, featuring global icons dedicated to protecting the planet.
Prince William has turned attention away from recent royal controversies with an inspiring announcement about the upcoming Earthshot Prize 2025 Awards. The event, set for November in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will bring together world-famous artists, athletes, and environmental leaders to honour groundbreaking work for the planet.
Kensington Palace revealed that pop superstar Kylie Minogue, often dubbed the “Princess of Pop,” will headline the performances, joined by singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes.
Speaking to Hello! Magazine, Kylie said, “Brazil — I’m coming back! It’s a privilege and honour to be part of The Earthshot Prize in Rio – on stage with the people and the ideas that could save our planet.”
In a joint statement shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media, the Earthshot team described the night as a celebration of “musicians, sports icons, and environmental activists” who will come together to spotlight five winners driving change around the world.
The musical lineup also includes Brazilian legends Gilberto Gil, Anitta, and Seu Jorge. Jorge, reflecting on the importance of the initiative, said, “The real heroes today are the people out there doing the work — restoring forests, cleaning rivers, and caring for the places we call home. Their work reminds us that healing the Earth begins with small acts of courage.”
The ceremony will be hosted by Brazilian television presenter Luciano Huck. Awards will be presented by sports greats including Cafu, Sebastian Vettel, Rebeca Andrade, and environmental advocate Txai Surui.
The Rio event marks another milestone for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, reinforcing his ongoing mission to highlight global efforts aimed at protecting and restoring the planet for future generations.
