Prince William moved to tears in powerful new video

The Prince of Wales makes a heartfelt plea for open conversations about mental health

Kensington Palace has released a deeply emotional video of Prince William discussing the importance of mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

The clip, shared on October 10 to mark World Mental Health Day, features the Prince in conversation with Rhian Manning — a remarkable woman who lost her husband, Paul, to suicide in 2012, just five days after their one-year-old son, George, died.

Visibly moved, William emphasised the power of communication in saving lives. “The best way to prevent suicide is to talk about it,” he said. “Talk about it early, talk about it with your loved ones, those you trust, your friends. So thank you for talking about it.”

The conversation is part of a new initiative launched by The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales — the National Suicide Prevention Network — which aims to unite charities across the UK to transform how the nation tackles suicide prevention.

A Palace spokesperson thanked Rhian and her family for their courage in sharing such a personal story, saying their openness would help others feel less alone.

Through his words and compassion, the Prince of Wales once again underscored his long-standing commitment to breaking the silence around mental health and encouraging more honest, supportive conversations.
